Celebrating a Historical Milestone for Hyundai
For over 50 years, Hyundai has been at the forefront of automotive innovation, with safety, usability, and design being key aspects of Hyundai’s philosophy. Since 1967, the world has come a long way, now focusing on more responsible modes of transport including hybrid and electric vehicles.
In recent years, Hyundai has made great strides towards electrifying its line, with its first commercially available electric car, the BlueOn, being released in 2009.
Hyundai’s latest offering, the INSTER, is a compact crossover that packs a punch with bold styling and technology.
The Hyundai INSTER is Hyundai’s latest electric car that is designed to be compact for city driving but spacious enough to facilitate a staycation holiday. This versatility is perfect for everyday life, being ideal for the weekly shop or a weekend of camping.
The INSTER comes in 3 trim levels. The base level, INSTER 01 offers fantastic, premium features as standard, while the INSTER 02 will offer slightly more in the way of comfort and practicality.
The upcoming INSTER Crossover adds features such as improved alloy wheels, electric glass sunroof and an updated styling to give more of an off-road feel.
Whichever model you opt for, Hyundai has ensured that quality, spaciousness, and compatibility with modern life are weaved into the very fabric of the INSTER.
Outside of the trim levels, the INSTER offers fantastic range and performance with standard range and long-range options that allow drivers to travel up to 229 miles on a single charge.
The long-range model is also able to power the car from 0-60mph in just over 10 seconds, comfortably getting you up to motorway speed with slip-road to spare.
Whether you opt for the standard or long-range options, the INSTER can go from 10-80% charge in around 30 minutes using a 120kW DC charger. The 11kW charger on board will comfortably charge your car overnight at home, making it an ideal option for those looking to take on daily commutes.
The INSTER isn’t just fitted with modern in terms of its electrified nature, but it’s packed full of mod-cons like wireless phone charging and plenty of driver assistance features.
Hyundai are renowned for their innovative design that extends far beyond the exterior. Inside you can find plenty of wonderfully practical features that make driving easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
Despite its smaller exterior that makes parking easier, there’s actually a lot more room than you’d realise. The flat EV floor, adaptable rear seats and high roof silhouette come together to create a roomier interior than you’d expect.
The practicality of the INSTER is doubled by the ability to fold down not just the back seats but the front seat, giving unparalleled versatility to store suitcases, shopping, or even larger items like furniture.
When they’re not folded down, the rear seats are also incredibly comfy. They’re set at a convenient height for adults with ISOFIX attachments for installing child seats with ease. On the INSTER 02 and above, they’re also able to slide forward or backward and recline for added comfort.
If you opt for the higher trim level of the INSTER 02, the car comes fitted with heated front seats and steering wheel giving you an extra layer of comfort during cooler months.
As well as being nifty to drive around town and park in tight spaces, the INSTER is also incredibly spacious. You'll find 238 litres of boot space with up to 351 litres, depending on the seat configuration.
The INSTER wants you to express yourself with mood lighting that can match your mood and personality. Blue for tranquillity or red for a sporty feel, it’s completely up to you.
Continuing Hyundai’s foundations of innovation and technology, the INSTER is packed full of features that take it from being a comfortable car to a futuristic family motor.
The INSTER takes the pixel lights from the IONIQ 5 to display key information on the steering wheel such as what gear the car is in, whether the motor is running, and if the car is charging.
The large touch screen is responsive and easy to use with a sharp display that will even display Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Equipped with Bluelink
Bluelink is Hyundai’s connected car service that the INSTER is equipped with from the factory. Bluelink includes innovative features like remote climate control, fuel status, and navigation system all available in the app.
Safety is also at the forefront of the INSTER’s design, so that you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands whether you’re nipping to the shops or driving across the country.
The 10.25” display switches to a camera view when the car is put into reverse, helping the driver see better than the rear-view mirror allows them to.
Airbags are a key safety feature, softening the blow in case of a crash, which is why the INSTER is fitted with 7 of them to protect the driver and passengers should the unthinkable happen.
If a reverse camera isn’t enough to reverse safely, the car will warn the driver of an oncoming accident and auto-engage the brakes when the car is moving in reverse.
It’s not just in reverse that INSTER is safety conscious, it’ll also automatically apply the brakes in the event that a pedestrian or cyclists get in your path, or at a junction.
As well as cameras and auto-brakes, the INSTER is also fitted with sensors on the front and back that alert drivers if they’re close to an obstacle.
On long motorway drives, it can be difficult to stay in lane which is why the INSTER is fitted with lane-keeping assist to make sure that motorway drives are a breeze.
