Although they’re more expensive to buy, electric cars are significantly more economical to run and maintain than petrol/diesel models.
Most manufacturers produce electric and hybrid vehicles. Leading brands include Volvo, Honda, Hyundai, KIA, Mazda, Maxus, MG and Nissan.
It really depends on the vehicle and the type of powertrain it has. For example, the all-electric XC40 Recharge costs about £23 to fully charge (from zero to 100 per cent) at home.
Plug-in hybrid vehicles require manual charging while mild-hybrid vehicles are self-charging.
