NISSAN E-POWER

Move to a unique electrified experience, now unplugged.
e-POWER, a unique combination A technology unique to Nissan. e-POWER uses a petrol engine to charge a battery and that alone drives an electric motor, powering the wheels. It responds similarly to an electric car, providing instant torque and also has lower tailpipe emissions and running costs compared to a traditional combustion engine [1], but without the need to plug it in. In addition to the petrol engine, e-POWER also uses regenerative braking to help keep the battery topped up.

Nissan e-POWER is a unique electrified technology that delivers a more responsive, quieter & efficient way to experience city driving, free from the need to charge.

All your questions answered

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN E-POWER AND 100% ELECTRIC OR HYBRID?

Close

Nissan’s e-POWER is unique as it gives you instant torque and smooth acceleration, like an electric vehicle, without the need to plug in. The eclectic motor is powered by a combination of the lithium-ion battery and VC-Turbo engine, this alone provides power to the wheels.

WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS IN E-POWER & HOW DO THEY WORK?

Close

The components that make up the e-POWER system consists of:

  • An electric motor that drives the wheels
  • A lithium-ion battery which powers the electric motor
  • A variable compression combustion engine which both charges the battery and provides power to the electric motor.
  • An inverter which manages the energy received from the engine to charge the battery and/or power the electric motor.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE LITHIUM-ION BATTERY WHICH POWERS THE ELECTRIC MOTOR GOES FLAT?

Close

Thanks to some clever technology, your e-POWER vehicle will automatically activate the internal combustion engine when the charge level of the Lithium-Ion battery drops below a certain level.

You can check on the status of the e-POWER powertrain via the energy flow diagram in the vehicle's combimeter which will display when the engine is activated, the battery charging state and more

DOES E-POWER COME WITH ALL WHEEL DRIVE?

Close
